A commitment to doing our bit in order to preserve the world’s marine environment is a key priority at Emperor Divers.
As well as trying to take care of our own footprint, we also work alongside or within several charitable and non-profit organisations. One of these is the Sea Save Foundation – an organisation of whom we are proud sponsors and one that has our CEO Alex Bryant on its board of directors.
Sea Save is a non-profit dedicated to the protection and preservation of our oceans and the species that call them home. Driven by a passionate team of environmental advocates, marine scientists, and policy experts, the organisation addresses the many threats facing our marine ecosystems, including rising sea temperatures, coral bleaching, plastic pollution, overfishing, unsustainable tourism, and the illegal trade in marine wildlife.
By combining education, scientific research, and community-based initiatives, Sea Save aims to ensure that future generations can experience the beauty, diversity, and vitality of healthy oceans.
Over the years, Sea Save has achieved significant milestones. One of note is its active participation in international policy-making forums such as the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). Through their persistent efforts, several shark and ray species were successfully listed under CITES, providing them with stronger protection measures against rampant overexploitation.
Sea Save’s lobbying helped secure vital protections for manta and mobula rays, and they have continuously worked to ensure that these policies are effectively enforced.
Sea Save’s educational campaigns and public awareness initiatives have also influenced meaningful change. Their “Give ‘Em the Fin” campaign raised global awareness about the shark fin trade, inspiring consumers and policymakers to challenge unsustainable fishing practices. Meanwhile, partnerships with local organisations have fostered responsible tourism, reduction of single-use plastics, and community-led marine conservation efforts.
Emperor CEO Alex says: “I’m very pleased to be a part of Sea Save and to have a chance to help drive forward the excellent work they do.
“It is an organisation that has made a big difference and remains highly motivated and determined to continue making a big difference. We, as Emperor Divers, happily support them to achieve this.
“As divers, we understand the need to both educate and campaign if we are to ensure the environment from which we derive such pleasure is intact so generations to come can do the same.”
