At Emperor Divers we are incredibly proud of the amazing women we have working with us.
So proud in fact, we want to share their stories and tell you more about them. In a series of weekly ‘Ladies Day’ features, we will highlight a few of the fantastic women who make us the great organisation we are.
Having started last week with one of our founders, Theresa Simpson, we now move on to the ladies who continue to drive Emperor forward. This week it’s our Senior Liveaboard Consultant, Yasmine Gamal.
Yasmine started diving in 2014 as part of her maritime archaeology studies and from their passion developed.
It grew into such a love that she decided a career in the diving industry was her future and she joined Emperor Divers in 2017.
Since then she has been an integral part of our reservations team where her dedication for diving is matched by her dedication to helping our guests have the best experience possible when holidaying with us.
“The best part of the job is speaking to people and helping them booking the ideal trips that suits their needs and preferences,” Yasmine explains.
“Working in reservations is special as you are the first in line to deal with guests so the first impression of the company.
“You then have the chance to get know the diver, their needs, their experience, their preferences, and provide them with the perfect holiday.
“For example from the dates they give, you can advise the best destination to visit. “You find out whether they prefer reefs, wrecks, big marine life… Then we can suggest which itinerary would suit them the best.
“Also, we can specify the boat that suit them the best, whether they prefer big boats with more facilities or smaller boats with smaller dive groups and more personal experience.
“We’ll assign the guest to one agent so the diver doesn’t feel they speak to someone new every time. That way you really get the chance to know people right down to their preferred communication channel to use such as emails, WhatsApp, chat etc.
“The best thing is getting the right trip for the person. Booking with us, we would make sure you choose the right itinerary for your diving experience and then our team on board will make sure to maximise your enjoyment.
“Most guests booking for first a diving trip get anxious about things like if they will enjoy on board, will it be too challenging.
“We can respond to this because there are always itineraries that can be recommended plus the liveaboard experience itself is a unique one that every diver will enjoy.”
As for Yasmine’s own experiences, she says an impromptu shore dive gave her one of the most memorable moments of her diving life.
“It was the first time I dived in the Red Sea. I was on a quick visit to Dahab for two days and there was no spare time but someone mentioned diving.
“We decided to have a dive from the shore for a couple of hours before our bus back and it was one of the most beautiful dives I ever had. I saw my favourite marine animal, turtles.
“There were three of them and for about 15 minutes we were watching them eating.
“I really found my passion for diving – and this was the one that introduced me to Emperor Divers in the first place!”
