Itinerary Highlights

  • A Red Sea liveaboard designed around family time, with a relaxed schedule, shorter sailings and plenty of fun in and out of the water.
  • Memorable Red Sea marine life encounters, including opportunities to snorkel with dolphins and turtles.
  • Diving and snorkelling for different ages and experience levels, from experienced divers to beginners and non-divers.

This is a Red Sea liveaboard designed for families to enjoy together, both in and out of the water. The Southern Red Sea Family Adventure combines diving, snorkelling and marine life encounters with a more relaxed schedule, creating plenty of opportunities to share the experience whether everyone in the family dives or not.

The first trip aboard Emperor Asmaa departs on August 21, 2027.

Days are spent discovering colourful reefs and the rich marine life of the Southern Red Sea, with opportunities to encounter green turtles and snorkel with wild spinner dolphins. Shorter sailings, mainly coastal dive sites and later starts mean less time travelling and more time enjoying the Red Sea, while diving and snorkelling throughout the week allow family members of different ages and experience levels to get involved.

With just 18 berths aboard Emperor Asmaa, departures offer a small-group experience where the emphasis is as much on spending time together as it is on what you see underwater. For families looking for an active Red Sea adventure rather than a traditional family holiday, this is a chance to dive, snorkel, explore and make memories together – above and below the surface.

Check Dive & Depart Port Ghalib

Once onboard, there will be a safety briefing, crew introduction, completion of dive paperwork, cabin allocation and boat orientation. The boat remains in Port Ghalib overnight, giving families time to settle in before the adventure begins. The following morning, we depart for the Abu Dabab area, where the first dive of the trip will be a check dive.

Return to Port Ghalib

On the final diving day, we make our way back towards Port Ghalib, with the last dives of the trip planned around Shaab Marsa Alam and Marsa Shouna. Here, there is a final opportunity to explore the reef and look for the green turtles that inhabit the area. We return to Port Ghalib that evening and remain in port overnight, ready for disembarkation the following morning. As with all our liveaboard itineraries, the final dive schedule will take into account the requirement not to dive within 24 hours of reaching altitude.

Itinerary Experience

Family-friendly, suitable for Open Water divers and snorkellers
This itinerary has been designed with families in mind and is suitable for Open Water divers as well as confident snorkellers. Dive sites have been carefully selected to offer relaxed diving and excellent marine life encounters, although currents may occasionally be experienced. Around 85% of the sites also offer good snorkelling, allowing divers and non-divers to enjoy many of the same locations together. Children can join from the age of 8, with PADI Bubblemaker experiences available for 8-10 year olds who meet the programme requirements. Certified Junior Open Water Divers aged 10-11 may dive to a maximum depth of 12m, while those aged 12-14 may dive to a maximum depth of 18m. Depths for older qualified divers will depend on their certification and experience.
