White tip sharks video

This is why we use reef hooks; in strong currents or surging water the marine life becomes accustomed to divers being in their environment.

By us staying in one place maybe then they do not perceive us as a threat, becoming more bold, like these two white tip reef sharks coming within two metres of us.

We are always thankful for amazing close encounters like these and being able to share them with you. Every day of every week should be just like this.

Emperor Divers

We are having a bit of a tidy up of our Facebook pages.

Facebook Emperor Divers will now be our main official page where we will share content not only from the Red Sea, but from Emperor Maldives and Emperor Indonesia too.

Our diving centres and luxury liveaboards in the Maldives, our sailing schooners in Indonesia and, of course, our original diving centres and fabulous boats in Egypt.

It's your main way to keep in contact with us and we promise to be there for you giving you up to date information, answering your questions and sharing a smile along the way.

We thought you might like an update on little Acorn, the rescue Hawksbill turtle.

Back in March we told you about our then Dive Master Trainee, Sandeep, at Emperor Laamu rescuing a small Hawksbill turtle that had become entangled in nets floating in the sea. Acorn was flown to Marine Savers Maldives to be cared for and is back to full health.

Acorn the turtle

We have recently received this video showing Acorn's release into the wild. Thank you to the helpful staff at Olive Ridley Project for their assistance and this update. A special mention goes to the amazing staff at Marine Savers for doing such a great job bringing Acorn back to full health.

How proud we are of Sandeep on successfully completing his PADI Divemaster internship.

Two months ago Sandeep joined us at Emperor Divers Laamu as a PADI Advanced Open Water diver. In this time he has successfully completed his Emergency First Response refresher course, PADI Rescue Diver course and now his PADI Divemaster course under the direction of our meticulous instructors, Dani and Adam.

Sandeep has truly deserved this achievement; at times he has felt it hard work but from hard work you get great results!

Sandeep was also instrumental in saving the turtle 'Acorn' when he came across it entangled in a plastic sack.
