Recently we told you about the sighting from Emperor Orion in Huvadhoo Atoll of a ‘new’ whale shark and have been working with the Maldives Whale Shark Project team to get the identity of her and to give her a name.

Result! She is now called Dhahi, meaning ‘glutton’. This is the fourth time she has been sighted; the first in 2015 then 2016, 2017 and from Emperor Orion this year. The interesting thing is that every time, she has been sighted in the same spot at Huvadhoo Atoll in February or March.

Emperor boats, especially Emperor Orion and Emperor Serenity, help Maldives Whale Shark Project a lot with their research to help identify them. Some whale sharks have been sighted more than 100 times.

Thanks to Emperor dive guide, Gabriel, for the fabulous video.
