“Emperor Elite - October 2013”

5 of 5 starsReviewed 19 October 2013

We did not know what to expect from Emperor as we have done 5 previous liveaboard trips with a rival company that regularly wins the best liveaboard in the Red sea. The only reason we booked with Emperor was that the other company had no availability. We booked this trip through Regaldive.

We were very pleasantly surprised.

The package included 15ltr tanks and Nitrox as standard - an extra with the other company.

Elite 5 S-signature.jpgEmperor Elite is a modern spacious boat that is equipped to a high standard. The standard cabins are comfortable, with a well laid out toilet and shower and space for all your toiletries. Hairdryers are provided, and hand towels as well as bath towels and beach towels and robes.

The lounges are comfortable and have large screen TVs that have media available and are also used for the dive briefings. Free WiFi is available on board when in range of mobile networks. The dining room is unusual in that there are more than two tables, and it allows guests to have a chance to meet all the other guests rather than be in the same group at every meal. The food is of a very good standard with a more personalised service than we have been used to. Red wine is provided free with the evening meal, along with an additional pasta course. Two celebration cakes were spontaneously provided by the chefs for an engagement and a 100th dive - a really nice touch.

There are lots of areas outside to relax between dives. The dive deck is very spacious.

The crew are fantastic, attentive and good humoured, nice to see the captain on the dive deck helping with all the divers - clearly a good team rapport.

The dive guides, Kevin and Danielle, are two of the best that we have had on our liveaboard trips in the Red sea. Their briefings hit exactly the right note with the guests. Although we chose not to be guided, they took the guided guests out with enthusiasm, and all we heard was compliments. They are professional and a credit to the company.

The diving was excellent - we saw hammerheads and an oceanic whitetip during the week as well as lots of beautiful reefs and other fauna, and we managed to complete the whole itinerary for the first time.

In summary, Emperor elite has set our new benchmark for liveaboards in the Red sea, and we would not hesitate to recommend them.
