From October 2008, Emperor Divers is teaming up with Oxygene Diving. With its roots in Scandinavia, Oxygène is an international network of dive retail stores, dive resorts and liveaboards in Sweden, Finland, England, Malta, The Red Sea Egypt, Philippines, Pemba, Croatia, Estonia, Canada and Tenerife. The Oxygène Diving core values are: Caring, Competence and Fun.

Oxygene was looking to expand its dive centre chain to the Red Sea in order to offer its client-base more destination choice and saw Emperor Divers as the most suited dive centre for their high standards and so the marketing cooperation was formed.

"We are delighted to be working with Emperor Divers," says Henrik Almers, CEO of Oxygene International. Emperor Divers' General Manager, Mike Braun, added, "We have always aimed high to provide excellent service levels and products. We immediately recognized a high level of affinity with the core values of the Oxygene group and believe that this cooperation will bring benefits to our business and, more importantly, to our customers."

Bookings buck the trend at NEC Dive Show

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

This year's NEC Dive Show proved a great success on the Emperor Divers' stand.  As always, it's a great chance to catch up with guests, to chat about what's happening in Emperor's Red Sea and to share our diving experience with you.

And it was so refreshing to see that the blighted credit crunch doesn't seem to have stopped people from booking their diving. This year saw nearly twice as many people booking online with Emperor at the show than last year! Heartening to know that not all is doom and gloom out there.

Exploration Safaris take you to reef systems that other safari boats have never dived. Here's your chance to discover and explore new sites that even our most experienced dive guides have never visited before. We can't guarantee what you'll discover but we can guarantee a memorable time and an exciting adventure. It could be you discovering new ancient wreck (see Diver magazine July 2008); an unknown destroyer such as the Myngs or a pristine reef! On the first and last days you'll dive some of the best know reefs in the St Johns and Fury Shoals area.

Best of Exploration Safaris take you to the most interesting sites discovered on the previous four years of Exploration Safaris. Come with us to the 'top secret' sites where you'll dive the best known reefs (Daedalus, Elphinstone and St. Johns) with far lesser known sites as far south as the Elba Reef system. You might see other boats at the better known sites but we can almost guarantee you will be alone with the sea, reefs and your fellow divers on quite a few of the days.

A warm welcome to Jim & Ute in Nuweiba

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)
Ute began her diving life in Germany's dark and cold Baltic Sea but soon discovered the pleasures of diving in warm water on several holidays to Thailand. She then spent a year dive guiding in Dahab and working for Emperor Divers in Nuweiba. Many liveaboard guests will know Ute from her time as a safari guide for Emperor in the southern Egyptian Red Sea.

1008 jim pickup ute friedrich 0908 crop.jpgJim learnt to dive in Stoney Cove, England back in 1991 and was immediately hooked! After many courses and pleasure dives in England, he became a PADI instructor in Malta and moved on to Hurghada in 1993 to work as an instructor and dive guide. Since then he has also worked in Dahab and Nuweiba. Along with Ute, he became a safari guide for Emperor covering the southern Egyptian Red Sea in 2005.

They are both delighted to be returning to the tranquil and picturesque setting of Nuweiba - literally picture perfect as it's a fabulous location to learn and improve photo techniques - and to be realising their ambitions of managing an Emperor dive centre.

New liveaboard 5-day film and edit course

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)
Jeff Goodman, director and award-winning cameraman, is to lead a new series of courses aimed at improving the art of good underwater video production while at the same time realising the incredible wealth and diversity of our planet's marine life.

Film courses
These new courses are being pioneered by Emperor Divers on Gold Fleet luxury liveaboards in May and November 2009. A maximum of 10 guests will be able to learn from one of the best underwater cameramen in the industry and will need their own video camera and housing for filming and a laptop with associated equipment for editing.

"This is ideal for divers who are competent in the water and have good background knowledge of how their camera works. We'll be looking at how to get the best out of their camera systems and exploring the techniques of observing and capturing wildlife behaviour with an end goal of producing a professional looking two-minute DVD," explains Jeff.

Rough Guides recommends Emperor Divers

Rough Guides recommends Emperor Divers as the dive centre of choice when visiting the Red Sea...here's an extract that gives you an insight into the wonders that await you:

1108 rough guides logo.jpg"Egypt's underwater world
For snorkellers and scuba divers the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba are heaven-sent destinations. Thanks to their relative isolation from the Indian Ocean, they harbour a high concentration of marine species found nowhere else on the planet, as well as many more common creatures, no less fascinating. Furthermore, the stable climate, shallow tides and exceptionally high salinity of the Red Sea provide perfect conditions for unusually brilliant corals and sponges to flourish - a revelation if you have previously snorkelled in such places as Hawaii or the Caribbean, whose reefs will ever after seem dull by comparison."

Robert Eagle pens an ode to Superior

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

Robert Eagle and pal Henry from Melton Divers had such a good time in Hurghada recently that Robert wrote a little ode about their time on Emperor Superior...well done you!

In July it was my good fortune to be
Aboard Emperor Superior sailing the Red Sea
For our group it was the first trip
Aboard this splendid live-aboard ship
Fitted out no expense spared
Luxury accommodation we all shared
Lisa the Red Sea Belle
And her partner Nick looked after us well
Our destination two islands called The Brothers
One much larger than the other
Little Brother our first dive
Proved to be a bumpy ride
As the Zodiac rode wave after wave
It was a dive fit only for the brave!
Dive site reached without a blip
We left the Zodiac with a backward flip
What a treat this dive proved to be
A panoply of sights to see
Full grown Reef Sharks and a Thresher too
Swimming out in the blue
Two days we spent at this dive spot
With strong currents and weather hot
Finally we said goodbye
And set off for other sites to try
Salem Express and El Arish El-Tor
Two wrecked Ferries on the sea floor
An hour long dive at Ras Disha
With all the life and fish a
Diver could hope to see
When diving in the clear Red Sea
We finally docked at port Hurghada
The crew and guides could not have worked harder
To make our holiday one to remember
When sitting by the fire in cold December
All too soon the week was done
As we flew home in the setting sun.
