I've been diving for 4 years with 100 dives under my belt. I am going on the Simply Magnificent trip in a few weeks (first liveaboard), and seek usual information........
Although planning regularly and counting down the days, I'm still unsure about:

1. Wetsuit. I feel the cold and normally dive in a 5mm full. However, I've never dived in water above 25C. I'm told water will be 28-29C mid-Sept and a 3mm will be fine. Honest opinion please!!
2. Likely sea conditions.
3. Dive depths. Can we go below 30m (to see hammerheads for example)? I know Emperor use a 30m max on day boats, but I do have my deep specialty if I can use it.
4. Chances of seeing 'big stuff'. Top of my wanted list is Oceanic WhiteTip, closely followed by Whale Shark. Any sightings likely mid-Sept, or is it really pot luck?
So many questions.....so much excitement....can't wait!!
Thx.

Hiya,

Thank you for your Forum Post.

Great news you have booked on a liveaboard with Emperor Fleet and what a great route to take at this time of the year !!

The water temperature in mid September is about 29 - 30 degrees so I am sure you will have pleasant dives. Most people dive in a 3mm wetsuit at this time of year but if you feel the cold a 5mm wetsuit will be fine.

The sea is very favourable at this time of year as it is not as windy usually Force 0 to 4 so the sea is lot calmer.

All dives are guided to 30 meters but if you and your buddy have a deeper qualification then it is possible to dive to this depth but to be honest you will see a lot of the bigger fish up to 30 metres.

Last year on this trip in September they saw silky sharks, white tips, hammerheads, threshers and dolphins so fingers crossed an oceanic passes your way.

If you have any further questions please drop me a line: info.safaris@emperordivers.com and I will be happy to help.
