Hi there

I've booked a holiday with my boyfriend to marsa alam in August of this year. Currently i dont own a wet suit but am looking to buy one, which is the best thickness and would you advise a shortie for this time of year?
Thanks for your help!

Hi

Depends on how much you feel the cold, but I normally use a 3mm full suit in August with a rash vest underneath and I feel the cold!

Hi

My first post, I am new to Diving, currently doing my Open Water in the UK.

I am also going to Sharm at the end of July and plan to book some diving with Emperor once I am certified.

I was planning to buy a 5mm full length suit, as this is what someone advised, would I be better going for a 3mm. !!

Going off at a tangent from the thread, does anyone have any experience of buying kit from DEEPBLUE in Whitley Bay, I was up there last week on business and had a look into there shop, far cheaper than anywhere else I have seen on the net. Might buy the kit once I am certified, but at the moment don't really know what I want (Like I am going to be an expert when I have gained my OW certification  ) and don't want to make an expensive mistake.

Would I be best advised hiring for my first trip, already bought a Tusa mask & snorkel for the course and as mentioned above I definitely want my own wetsuit.

My personal opinion is to hire the gear from Emperor and see how you get on.

We have done over 250 dives, and still hire bcd's and regulators from Emperor as it saves on the weight when travelling. Get yourself some wetsuits ( I use 7mm suit at Christmas, March and June and a 3mm suit in August.) Also your own fins, boots and mask would be handy.

Hope this helps...

Hmm,

If its your first time, definately hire everything except your mask and snorkel.
BCD's and regulators can vary so try a few different types before you splash your cash!

There are various ways a Wetsuit can be sealed together and the way depends on the designed use of the Wettie. We will not go into details but some of the different methods of stitching and sealing are blind stitching, taped, glued, flatlocked and heat sealed.
