Night dives can be superb in this area as Gubal Island offers protected anchoring for the night. A small wreck at 8-10 metres makes for a spectacular night dive with lionfish, scorpion fish and its resident giant moray eel.
A short ride across the straits of Gubal to Dunraven an English steamer which sank in 1876 on the way back from the Indies. Divers can swim toward the wreck from a permanent mooring at the tip of beacon rock and enter via the hull through one of the gashes on the starboard side. Many large groupers have chosen the wreck as their home, and the huge boiler in the central area now shimmers with tiny glass fish swimming in the shafts of light. Swim past the crows nest and 2 masts as you head to the reef to make your way back to the mooring.
Ras Mohamed National Park, offering a morning dive at the 'Shark Reef', a sheer wall falling into the blue. The Ras Mohamed Park is usually the 'border', and offers dives for all the family before the boat heads back towards Hurghada.
