Dave completes THREE Specialty Courses in one week!

On a recent North Safari on board MY EMPEROR REGENCY, Dave Carrick, from England, arrived wanting to ‘do more than sleep between the dives, and get something extra out of the diving’.

The answer was simple – Specialty Courses! And where better to do them than with Emperor Divers in the warm waters of the Red Sea!

During the week, Dave’s surface time was spent looking at all of his equipment and talking about how to maintain it, check the proper functionality, the various components he could replace without needing specialist tools, etc and even found and replaced an ‘O’ ring that had burst that he was unaware of. During his O2 course he was able to look at the emergency equipment carried as standard on the Emperor Fleet boats, understand the situations in which it may need to be used, and actually use it.

When it came to getting wet, Dave was also able to carry out his Deep Diver training in places such as Umm Gamar, Thistlegorm and Ras Mohammed where he successfully performed a variety of skills.

Dave says “The courses were great! I learnt a lot of useful stuff this week; it was a very well organised trip with very professional staff – thanks to Simon for the teaching and lots of hints and tips and also Wali for being my buddy!”

Shark fishing banned in Egypt

The Red Sea environment is precious to all who enjoy the variety of marine life and corals, and its future looks good thanks to the efforts of governors, HEPCA (Hurghada Environmental & Protection Conservation Association) and the Red Sea and South Sinai Association.

As a founder member of HEPCA, Emperor Divers has been active in ensuring that the marine life and corals of the Red Sea continue to be protected. A recent campaign led by HEPCA and supported by the Red Sea Governate, The National Parks of Egypt and the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries, resulted in the banning of shark fishing in the whole of the Egyptian Red Sea with Egypt named as the Shark Guardian of the Year 2006.
