More about El Gouna
Located on the Red Sea in the Red Sea Governorate of Egypt, 22 km north of Hurghada International Airport, the resort specialises in beaches, watersports including scuba diving, windsurfing, kitesurfing, waterskiing, parasailing and snorkelling. There are two main beaches, Zeytuna Beach located on its own island and Mangroovy Beach. A network of canals is crossed by small stone bridges.
There are three central areas; housing, shops, bars and restaurants: Downtown, Tamr Henna square and the Abu Tig Marina.
Some hotels were designed by the American architect Michael Graves and there is a golf course designed by Gene Bates and Fred Couples.
From beaches to markets, El Gouna is also home to some fantastic bargains. Browse the bazaars and look for traditional souvenirs.
