Captains Blog 31008. The Federation have recently sent my Science Officer, Mr Dan, and myself to forge an alliance with another organisation called Oxygene. We have spent the last two weeks agreeing protocols to be used between the two nations, and have helped set-up another outpost in the quadrant that they will use as an operational base. Mr Dan will stay with two other members of my crew to oversee the transition period.

In the meantime several of our ships have reported various sightings in different sectors of the quadrant. They have been as follows:

Sharmdate 23908 - Mr Dav and his away team came across a large group of Hammers advancing towards federation space from the Briar Patch region beyond Jackson. They moved forward in large numbers up to 30 at a time and all vessels were put on Yellow Alert.

Sharmdate 26908 - Mr Scott reported that the large incursion of Hammers seen 3 days previously had stopped and that they had retreated deeper and further into the outback. 2 Hammer scouts were reported in close proximity but disappeared when they realised they were being scanned. A large Thresher Shark was then seen to enter Federation Space. The Away Team tried to follow but the Thresher engaged warp drive and fled.

Sharmdate 28908 - Mr Scott and Mr Dav have both reported that Frog Fish can now be found on a regular basis on Jackson Reef. Mr Dav has been able to collect some good data and has photographed the creature at close range.

Sharmdate 11008 - One of the new ensigns from the alliance has reported sighting a Whale Shark at Jackfish Alley. This is very unusual for this time of year.

Sharmdate 21008 - The Whale Sharks are definitely still here despite not being seen for several weeks. Another was spotted today over the wreck of the Thistlegorm.
The Time Zone in the quadrant changed at the beginning of the month and therefore the nights are drawing-in already, with night Away Missions able to commence at 18.30 hrs now. This in conjunction with a local tradition called Ramadan has made the last few weeks interesting to say the least for the crew.

There have been few sightings of the larger species in the quadrant over recent weeks, which makes us believe that any intent to invade Federation space has for the moment subsided. However, other rarer creatures have been identified.

Our Deep Tec specialist, Ensign Sarah has recently reported a Guitar Shark and Manta at the same time at Middle Garden, whilst Mr Scott has found the hiding place of a Frog Fish on Jackson Reef, a very rare find indeed.
With the defeat of one of our allies on the other side of the Neutral Zone many who had hoped to cross into Federation space have had to alter their plans or not come at all. The demise of this ally came as a surprise to many and will affect the operation of the Fleet over the coming months, but we are keeping a keen eye on events in that sector.

We have continued our patrols in the whole area and three days ago had 2 dolphins reported at 5m for over 5 minutes by Ensign Andre at one of the site in the Local Zone called Ras Katy.

Our Science Officer, Mr Dan, with Chief Engineer, Roger, have been looking after a delegation from across the pond and confirmed contact with a 2m marlin on the back of Jackson for 3 minutes. Whether these have occurred naturally or are do to man made events we are unsure. All our long and short range sensors have been affected and all ships have reported unusually high solar winds, plasma waves and extremely bad visibility until you get 5 metres or so below the surface.

As a consequence little has been reported in the last week and we wait for these phenomenon to subside, which should happen in the next few days. Strange but this all seems to have coincided with a time known as 'Ramadan'. We are investigating if their is a connection between these two events.
Number One has taken USS Shorouk into the Ras Mohamed System and confirmed the sightings of the large Manta at the location known as Ras Ghouzlani.

Meanwhile Counselor Denis and Dr Donna have diverted USS Marcus to a slightly more remote part of the quadrant in the early hours to locate and examine the wreckage of an old ship known as Dunraven. On the local 'M' class reef they also discovered creatures we call 'Stonefish'. We believe that this is one of their main breeding grounds as often we locate and identify several of these creatures in the area. They further reported two 'Hawksbill Turtles' on returning to the Ras Mohamed System.

Mr Dav has been assigned to teaching duties following a prolonged time out on patrol. He has been sent to conduct the training at our outpost at Sharks Bay, and was fortunate enough to show his students a Manta our their first ever Away Mission.

It would appear that the Manta's have replaced the Whale Sharks who were conducting recce patrols all over Federation space only a few weeks ago. Today Dr Donna, still escorting the Seaway Scuba delegation, also found another Manta at Amphorus. When she tried to hail them, it move off at warp speed.
Our Protocol Officer, Ensign Penny, took USS Mahy Tours into the Briar Patch late yesterday afternoon on their extended patrol of the area. 7 Hammers were spotted at around 30m but were making their way deeper into the Outback and were therefore only encountered for a few minutes. In the meantime once back close to the 'M' class reef of Jackson a young White Tip stayed near to the Away Team scanning them for several minutes at shallow depths until the end of the mission.

During the night the ship had to move for operational reasons but found a large pod of creatures known as Dolphins caught in the gravitational distortions at her bow. We have not seen these creatures much at night, but they were moving in force towards the Ras Mohamed System. They are normally seen as allies of the Federation.

Ensign Penny despatched an Away Team later that night to the 'M' class reef known as Gordon and reported much activity including: Spanish Dancers, Octopus, and Stone Fish.
We hope she will complete her mission successfully tomorrow.

Captain's Blog 13808. We have received a communication from the Federation asking us to assist a TV production company called Endemol to prepare and train two young aquanauts in preparation for their trip around the whole galaxy known as Earth. This will then be shown in the form of a video diary for a production called 'Gap Year'. Number One has been given the task and the training has already commenced.

It would seem that many of the different species in the quadrant have discovered that when in large groups it is easy for our long range sensors to pick them up. They have therefore reverted to incursions into the area as individuals.

Doctor Donna on USS Kastan Sea patrolling the Ras Mohamed sector reported a 'Grey Reef Shark' at coordinates Shark Observatory, and a further sighting of a 'White Tip' at coordinates Ras Ulm Sid. We do not currently believe that they are working together and these were independent actions on their part.

Mr Dav, the famous 'Whale Shark' chaser and hunter, managed to get into the Briar Patch area of the Tiran Outback, but again found the Hammers operating in ones and twos and very deep.

The 'Mantas' were found to be operating in the beach area at coordinates Sharks Bay, but this was a good sighting as it allowed first contact for some of the new trainees who were being taught in that sector by Mr Steve.

Captains Blog 9808. Following a period of R&R I returned to the bridge yesterday. My First Officer (Terry) had been responsible for all data entries in the ships log during the period and I was therefore able to bring myself up to speed with developments in the quadrant.

The first notable entry was the fact that Mr Dan, Mr Arni and Deep Specialist Sarah have been secondered to part of the fleet in another part of the galaxy called the 'Cocos Islands' near to Costa Rica. They will be gone for a month.

Counselor Denis and Mr Steve lead an extended Away Mission into the Briar Patch just beyond the M class reef known as Jackson on another fact finding mission. They were able to get into the area on their first two incursions resulting in contact with up to 12 Hammers, but the extremely high solar winds prevented any movement into the area the next day.

On star date 2808 my standards officer, Penny, was able to report the sighting of a large Manta in the Local Zone at coordinates Tower. We had believed that all of these creatures had left the quadrant as none had been sighted for some time, and due to it's inquisitive nature the Away Team set their phasers to stun, but did not have to fire as it left after some minutes. We were being scanned for sure.

The latest entries in the log indicated contact had been made with an Oceanic White Tip in Ras Mohammed reported by Mr Steve, whilst Number One again found one of the Whale Shark species probing our defences in the Ras Bob region.

The best contact came yesterday in the Briar Patch as the solar winds had dropped allowing Away Teams to move into the area. They beamed down onto coordinates, which had shown a spatial anomaly. This turned out to be a fighting patrol of 15 Hammers who followed the Away Team from depth to shallower waters. The Fleet was put on yellow alert with shields raised as a precaution to any preemptive strike.

The last entry recorded the fact that Ensigns Andre, Gorana and Sarah D have now all been placed on active duty having successfully gained the 'Blue Shirt' and graduated from the academy.
