Captains Blog 27808. Our Protocol Officer, Ensign Penny, took USS Mahy Tours into the Briar Patch late yesterday afternoon on their extended patrol of the area. 7 Hammers were spotted at around 30m but were making their way deeper into the Outback and were therefore only encountered for a few minutes. In the meantime once back close to the 'M' class reef of Jackson a young White Tip stayed near to the Away Team scanning them for several minutes at shallow depths until the end of the mission.

During the night the ship had to move for operational reasons but found a large pod of creatures known as Dolphins caught in the gravitational distortions at her bow. We have not seen these creatures much at night, but they were moving in force towards the Ras Mohamed System. They are normally seen as allies of the Federation.

Ensign Penny despatched an Away Team later that night to the 'M' class reef known as Gordon and reported much activity including: Spanish Dancers, Octopus, and Stone Fish.
We hope she will complete her mission successfully tomorrow.

Captains Blog 26808. We have welcomed the 'Seaway Scuba' delegation with Ambassador Harding to the Federation. Counselor Denis and Dr Donna are to help them acquaint themselves to the Quadrant and the ship USS Marcus.

After yesterdays failure to locate the Hammers, Number One has been sent to the Ras Mohamed system to report on the situation there. He was surprised to find a very large Manta still in the area at coordinates Raz Ghouzlani, which maintain it's position for 10 minutes before headed off at warp speed in the direction of Marsa Bareika.

Concerned at the total disappearance of  the Hammers for two days in the Tiran system, I have asked Ensign Penny, our Protocol Officer, to lead an Away Team for an extended mission in to the area tonight.

Captains Blog 25808. Quite an eventful day as our Science Officer, Mr Dan, Deep Specialist Ensign Sarah and tame Wokie, Arni, all returned from the Cocos Islands. Initial reports confirmed our thoughts that this location is the main staging area for the Hammers, with reports of hundreds at a time being seen together. They must then use some form of long range transporter system to come to this area. Also seen where many Tiger Sharks and therefore we believe an alliance has been formed between the two species. Although only seen once the large Hump Back Whale was also seen by the Islands.

Back in the Tiran system, Number One has found the Briar Patch devoid of any Hammers, and despite several sweeps using our sensors nothing was to be found.

Captains Blog 23808. The 'Fins' delegation are from a rather private part of the galaxy and the only person who has been actually seen them has been Number One, but our understanding is that their mission aboard USS Shorouk has gone well. Ambassador Scrowcroft has stayed an extra few days with a few of his team to complete their findings. Number one is still with them and will report on any contacts made.

Meanwhile, following the good contact by Ensign Ellen with the Hammers, Dr Donna has lead another Away Team into the Briar Patch area of the Tiran system. Initial reports from the team seem to indicate that this is a major incursion by them in force. Another fighting patrol was seen in the area as the team transportered down and instantly came into contact with 14 Hammers. They probed the team's defenses for 15-20 minutes at around 25 metres, before retreating further into the Outback.

We have asked the 'Fins' delegation to return to the area tomorrow.

Captains Blog 22808. The Federation has played host to several delegations over the past few days with the delegations of 'Fins' (Preston), 'Divemaster Scuba' (Chesterfield) and the private 'Foster' group all spending 5 or 6 days with us. The reports of their experiences have all been favourable and we look forward to welcoming Ambassadors Colin Scowcroft, Mike Hutson and David Foster back again in the near future.

We have despatched Mr Alex up to one of our outposts in Nuweiba to assist them with their operations for a week or so, whilst Mr Walid goes on a weeks extended mission to the deep south of the quadrant and Ensign Nadia leaves on R&R across the Neutral Zone to an area known as Austria.

Most of the quadrant was quiet yesterday, but reports of 17 'Hammers' at depth in the outback of Jackson was recorded by Ensign Ellen and confirmed by several crew members. USS Amir Fareed will return tomorrow to continue it's mission in the area.

Captains Blog 20808. The last week has provided the fleet with several sightings within the quadrant and along our bounders. In amongst all these sightings one of the ships from the fleet, USS Theresa, deserted without warning and crossed the Neutral Zone to align themselves with some local Klingons. The ship has been lost to us and will not return.

The following contacts have been made on consecutive days in order since last week:

Counselor Denis   -   A squadron of  Eagle Rays at Ras Zaatar.

Ensign Gorana    -    Grey Reef on the saddle between Jackson and Woodhouse. 3                                             Hammers in the Outback area known as Briar Patch.

Mr Scott            -   Spot Tail Shark and Guitar Shark at Ras Zaatar.

Mr Dav               -   15 Hammers close up for 20 minutes in the Briar Patch area off Jackson.

Mr Dav               -   Silky Shark at Ras Zaatar. Whale Shark at Ras Ulm Sid.

Dr Donna            -   4 Hammers in the Outback beyond Jackson.

We await the return of Science Officer Dan and ships Wokie Mr Arni with data and footage of their voyage to the Cocos Islands as they are due back on Monday.

Captain's Blog 13808. We have received a communication from the Federation asking us to assist a TV production company called Endemol to prepare and train two young aquanauts in preparation for their trip around the whole galaxy known as Earth. This will then be shown in the form of a video diary for a production called 'Gap Year'. Number One has been given the task and the training has already commenced.

It would seem that many of the different species in the quadrant have discovered that when in large groups it is easy for our long range sensors to pick them up. They have therefore reverted to incursions into the area as individuals.

Doctor Donna on USS Kastan Sea patrolling the Ras Mohamed sector reported a 'Grey Reef Shark' at coordinates Shark Observatory, and a further sighting of a 'White Tip' at coordinates Ras Ulm Sid. We do not currently believe that they are working together and these were independent actions on their part.

Mr Dav, the famous 'Whale Shark' chaser and hunter, managed to get into the Briar Patch area of the Tiran Outback, but again found the Hammers operating in ones and twos and very deep.

The 'Mantas' were found to be operating in the beach area at coordinates Sharks Bay, but this was a good sighting as it allowed first contact for some of the new trainees who were being taught in that sector by Mr Steve.

Captains Blog 9808. Following a period of R&R I returned to the bridge yesterday. My First Officer (Terry) had been responsible for all data entries in the ships log during the period and I was therefore able to bring myself up to speed with developments in the quadrant.

The first notable entry was the fact that Mr Dan, Mr Arni and Deep Specialist Sarah have been secondered to part of the fleet in another part of the galaxy called the 'Cocos Islands'  near to Costa Rica. They will be gone for a month.

Counselor Denis and Mr Steve lead an extended Away Mission into the Briar Patch just beyond the M class reef known as Jackson on another fact finding mission. They were able to get into the area on their first two incursions resulting in contact with up to 12 Hammers, but the extremely high solar winds prevented any movement into the area the next day.

On star date 2808 my standards officer, Penny, was able to report the sighting of a large Manta in the Local Zone at coordinates Tower. We had believed that all of these creatures had left the quadrant as none had been sighted for some time, and due to it's inquisitive nature the Away Team set their phasers to stun, but did not have to fire as it left after some minutes. We were being scanned for sure.

The latest entries in the log indicated contact had been made with an Oceanic White Tip in Ras Mohammed reported by Mr Steve, whilst Number One again found one of the Whale Shark species probing our defences in the Ras Bob region.

The best contact came yesterday in the Briar Patch as the solar winds had dropped allowing Away Teams to move into the area. They beamed down onto coordinates, which had shown a spatial anomaly. This turned out to be a fighting patrol of 15 Hammers who followed the Away Team from depth to shallower waters. The Fleet was put on yellow alert with shields raised as a precaution to any preemptive strike.

The last entry recorded the fact that Ensigns Andre, Gorana and Sarah D have now all been placed on active duty having successfully gained the 'Blue Shirt' and graduated from the academy.
