We still can't believe that the Whale Sharks are still around so many weeks after the first sightings, but Mr Dav reported one today still in the Local Zone at Fiddle Garden, which is some distance from their normal hunting ground. He wasn't expecting it as his main mission had been to get photographic evidence of the Ornate Ghost Pipefish located at the same site on Thursday last week. The Federation is currently keeping the location of this small species secret in line with the Prime Directive only allowing our own delegates to view and make contact with it.
No. 1 had, in the meantime, continued his Away Mission with Scott but had ventured into the Ras Mohamed System choosing to visit an infrequently visited area known as Sharks Observatory. His intuition paid off as they were able to report contact with two adult and one juvenile species, known as Dolphin, in their natural habitat. The encounter was fairly short but still gave a good view of this shy species at 15 metres depth.
