Captains Blog 30708. We entered that world of The Blue Planet today. The Fleet had reports of a number of Whale Sharks entering the Local Zone close to Near Garden very early this morning. We therefore communicated this to all our ships and therefore 5 of the Fleet made for the given coordinates at Warp Speed to intercept the creatures.
We were amazed to find 4 of the species all at the same spot circling what can only be described as a 'fish ball' containing thousands of what we believe are called Sardines. All ships deployed Away Teams at the same time on the surface. We now know that when these fish balls are sighted the Whale Sharks will stay for long periods unaffected by the presence of ourselves.
The creatures stayed all day and many of the ships aborted their allotted missions and destinations to study the event. Most Away Teams were able to conduct three separate Away missions and get excellent footage and data of this unique event not seen in Federation Territory before.
We have termed this phenomenon as a Blue Planet Event and are sure the footage will be seen for years to come as a one off incident. I was pleased that all my officers got to witness this sighted and study the habits of these creatures in such close proximity and for so long.
Captains Blog 28708. Vice Admiral Larry and another member of the Saga Away Team have crossed the Neutral Zone for some R&R. I myself having been at the helm for 3 months have decided to take a break for a few days and join some Away missions to see events for myself first hand. I will therefore report on my findings when I return.
New Officers Gorana and Sarah D. have been placed on duty and have been awarded the 'Blue Shirt' at a ceremony over the weekend. Whilst Mr Dav has joined our technical division for a week to be trained on some of their deep exploration equipment. During one of his first dives he was able to report that whilst we believed the Whale Shark species preferred to stay near the surface it can descend to well below 50 metres as he encountered one at this depth at Ras Katy yesterday.
Captains Blog 25708. Prior to Mr Dav taking a leave of absence to conduct some technical training he and Mr Scout were despatched in two separate ships to the Tiran System to confirm the wind conditions and the stability of the nebula.
Despite some gravitational distortions that were detected by the long range sensors both ships made it to the area and found that conditions had improved since the departure of USS Theresa back to the Neutral Zone. Both officers led Away Teams into the Briar Patch behind the M class reef Jackson. It was eerily quiet with only the sighting of one lone Hammer scout, which was difficult to explain .........until both teams encountered a 7 metre Whale Shark patrolling the Outback. They also reported two white tip reef sharks at the coordinates of Gordon Reef later in the mission.
Captains Blog 25708. As predicted the plasma cloud hit the M class reef Jackson late last night with increased wind speed recorded. USS Theresa withdrew into the Laguna nebula region for shelter at impulse speed as the ships navigation systems were being affected.
Captain Donna mounted a night patrol of the nebula but unfortunately little was to be found. In the morning USS Theresa reestablished her observation position but with such high solar winds stayed out of the Briar Patch. Several smaller shuttlecraft from large long range ships from other planets tried to enter the area and one was smashed by a thermobaric wave onto the M class reef Jackson. It was turned over and its crew had to bale out. The crew was last seen walking over the reef area, as attempts were made to salvage the shuttlecraft. These prove successful and the shuttle returned to its mother ship.
Back in the Local Zone two of the new recruits have been given command of two our fleet ships for trials in that area. My First Officer, Mr Terry, will be supervising the exercises and if successful the new recruits will receive their 'Blue Shirts' at the weekly conference tonight.
Captains Blog 24708. Doctor Donna has reported the sighting of 10 Hammerheads on the first foray of the Away Team into the Briar Patch area just behind the M Class reef known as Jackson. The creatures kept their distance and therefore detailed medical readings could not be taken with the limited range of her tricorder.
We have warned her that our long range sensors have detected a plasma cloud building in the sector and that she may have only time for one more Away mission before the cloud and high solar winds reach her location. We have recommended that she stays on yellow alert with shields raised as a precaution.
The Doctor has reported good first contact on the second away mission. The Hammers circled the Away Team several times during the mission and then the main leader advance within 10 metres for several minutes. She is delighted that we now have some good data capture on this species.
Captains Blog 23708. Vice Admiral Larry requested to visit the Tiran System and was accompanied by the last commander of Sharm, Captain Tim. I sent USS Kastan Sea with Mr Dan for a quick patrol of the area to ensure that they didn't get into any trouble as it is a long time since Captain Tim went on an Away Mission, and he's not as young as he once was.
Mr Dan was able to report contact with 4 of the Hammer species in perfect weather conditions although the winds did make for an interesting entry into the Outback. The Away Team beamed to different parts of the sector on 3 occasions, but Captain Tim feeling the strain stayed with the ship during the last sortie. He has been told to report to sick bay on his return.
Due to the contact made we intend to send USS Theresa for a prolonged over night mission tomorrow in the same system. The Away Team will be led by Doctor Donna so we hope to get some detailed medical research information from the mission for our records of these creatures.
Captains Blog 22708. Three new recruits have joined the fleet in the last two weeks and are nearing their assessment days. Number One has been given the task of conducting the final tests whilst Counselor Denis, Doctor Donna, and Mr Dan have all been involved in their preparation. It is hoped that all three will soon have the honour of wearing Fleet uniform.
During one of yesterdays preparation days Counselor Denis and Communications Officer Nadia took two of the cadets into the Ras Mohammed System for navigation orientation tasks. These went well and therefore the recruits will soon be given their own ships to command under supervision. It was also during these tasks that the crew witnessed a highly unusual phenomenon. At one point several hundred 'Giant Trevally's' crossed into the sector and completely surrounded the Away Teams for twenty minutes or so. Whether this was a diversion or not we are not sure, but they then withdrew into the Exclusion Zone and we were not able to follow.
Captains Blog 2021708. A computer virus has affected all the ships in the fleet. Mr Dan (science officer), Chief Engineer Roger and Doctor Donna are all working on the problem, but the environmental systems are unable to control the heat and the temperature continues to rise.
Even outside the ships the Away Teams have seen a steady rise in temperature throughout all the quadrants of the sector. With this in mind we still find it strange that the species known as Whale Shark continue to stay in the area. We have had two sightings in the last 48 hours, one at Ras Nasrani and one at Ras Ulm Sid, but they appear to be individuals we have seen before at the same coordinates. It appears they have been assigned designated patrol areas.
USS Kastan Sea arrived back from the Tiran System yesterday with reports that the Hammers are adopting new tactics. A few scouts will now shadow our Away Teams at shallow depths and in close proximity, whilst the main group stays out of phaser range at deeper depths. Two or three scouts were reported throughout the mission, with the main group of ten within view but at a distance. It was also reported that a close relation to the Hammers known as 'Threshers' were spotted trying to avoid the Away Teams but were caught on our tricorder readings.
Captains Blog 18708. The night patrols off Shark's Bay beach were successful in detecting insurgents trying to enter the sector. A decoy called 'Spanish Dancer' was used to distract some of the Away Team as some unusual armoured creatures belonging the crustacean family made for the shore. Mr Naguib leading the away team had not seen this species before but was able to make them retreat to shelter.
He was also able to identify some Cuttle Fish and Octopus who were acting in a support role but all in all it was a successful mission.
All other ships have returned to the Local Zone for the end of week debrief in Hadaba.
Captains Blog 17708. It's been a quiet day all along our borders with few excursions reported. Is this the lull before the storm? Only USS Kastan Sea reported any movement with a Whale Shark reported in the blue off Ras Ulm Sid by Mr Scott and Mr Steve.
We have decided to send another ship to the outer quadrant for further exploration of Thistlegorm in the morning and therefore Mr Arni and Mr Steve are currently loading the vessel for this trip.
I am also sending out some night patrols tonight in case any species are using the cover of darkness to come close to the shore and penetrate our defenses.
Captains Blog 16708. With the communication problems solved with the Polish delegation Mr Walid and Chief Engineer Roger were asked to lead an Away Team to continue the exploration of Thistlegorm. This will be their last venture before returning to their own planet on the other side of the Neutral Zone. The mission has been such a success that they have asked to return in September and have requested my two officers be assigned to them again. It is hoped we will have perfected our communication problems by this time.
Meanwhile, with our continuing concern over excursions by other species into Federation territory, USS Theresa with 3 Away Teams on board has been sent at warp speed to monitor the Outback as sensors indicated the build up of forces in this area. She will spend an extended time overnight in that sector.
Initial reports received today have confirmed that the Hammers continue to mount increasing patrols in this area, and their operations seem not to be affected up the high winds like ours are. With low winds yesterday Mr Dav and Counselor Denis were able to venture into the Outback to monitor their activities and the best contacts to date were made. 20 plus Hammers were recorded at various locations and at very close range over a 20-25 minute duration.
USS Theresa took up a holding position east of the Outback at Laguna to monitor any other movements. During a night patrol one Away Team meet and found a sleeping Hawksbill Turtle, but other than that there was little to report from this site.
Winds this morning have not allowed further contact to be made with the Hammers, but Mr Dav reported that the inside of Jackson was empty of any ships from other organisations, which facilitated a detailed search of the area. A lone Leopard Shark uncommon on this site was seen as were two of our friendly reef overseers called Hawksbill Turtle.
I have asked Counselor Denis to pass by the Northern Sinai Coast area and report any sightings in this area. Unconfirmed reports have indicated that a Great Hammer was seen near Ras Nasrani, and that a Whale Shark was also scouting the area. This would compliment the report from yesterday that a Whale Shark was located all day in the Local Zone at Amphoras by USS Kastan Sea.
Captains Blog 14708. Despite having 50 delegates with our Away Teams at overnight Thistlegorm, we still had over 100 other delegates attend the weekly BBQ conference in the Hadaba sector. We used this occasion to say farewell to the Blue Water group with Brain Taylor, but also welcome our Polish delegation who had arrived from the Neutral Zone the day before.
Saturday and Sunday saw us despatch 8 ships to different systems throughout Federation territory, with sightings of various species in all sectors. Due to the number of sighting we believe there is an invasion coalition force building along our borders intend on a summer assault on all fronts. All ships have been put on Yellow Alert as a precaution, and we have stepped up missions into all areas using our long range sensors.
Counselor Denis on USS Kasten Sea encountered the Whale Sharks again in the Local Zone at White Knight, two were sighted at close range and for several minutes. Mr Dav recently returned from the overnight trip was sent straight to the Tiran System where favourable winds allowed excursions into the Outback beyond Jackson. Mr Dav and Mr Arni led an Away Team, but due to the number of Hammers encountered (up to 20) split into two groups. They had the Hammers at such close range that some delegates become nervous, and they were shadowed throughout most of dive.
I also led an Away Team to the Ras Mohammed System, and whilst we made contact with several large groups of Snappers, Batfish etc. the Black Tips remained cloaked, although our tricorders indicated their presence in the area. We did however, find one of their smaller related species White Tip Shark scouting the Jackfish Satellite Reef.
Another delegation arrived today to undertake 3 days training and orientation in the Local Zone before joining one of our large long range vessels to head out of Federation space into the deep southern region of the galaxy.
