It was a deep shock to hear of Chris Le Plongeon's sudden death and it is with great sadness that Emperor Divers bids a fond farewell to one of our own.
Chris worked for Emperor for eight years in both Dahab and Nuweiba, but mainly Nuweiba where he skilfully managed the centre.
Chris was a loyal member of the team and, with his humour and sunny outlook, inspired and instilled confidence in, not only the staff who worked alongside him, but the many guests that passed through on their way to qualifying as divers, and those already qualified but unsure of their skills. Chris was an excellent instructor who continued his own diver education and in 2011 was accepted by PADI onto the Course Director programme. Chris, of course, successfully passed the CDTC.
Chris and his partner, Jenna, who was also an integral part of the team at Emperor Nuweiba, left Egypt for Boracay in the Philippines where Chris was able to follow his dream and teach PADI IDCs, becoming a first-rate Course Director.
From everyone at Emperor, our condolences go to Jenna and to Chris' family. It is important for those loved ones to know that Chris left a legacy of many happy divers and new instructors who will carry on his good work. He will live on through them wherever they dive or teach.
Jenna tells us that Chris would have loved to have dived with a shark. This one's for you Chris.
