Emperor Divers - Behind the Scenes team
I am responsible for the Emperor group and am lucky to be part of a team that works hard to make sure our guests, both new and 'old', enjoy their holiday with us at any of our dive centre locations or on one of our liveaboards.
The regular happy testimonials from our guests is proof of our high standards and we're fortunate to have a highly qualified and dedicated multicultural team working throughout Emperor.
A bit about my background - I've worked in the British diving industry, teaching and guiding, since 2005 and moved to Emperor Marsa Alam in 2009. I became Dive Centre Manager and then Regional Area Manager in 2014 and am now Emperor's General Manager. As a PADI Master Instructor I still like to teach and guide whenever I can. My favourite places are the local sites around Port Ghalib /Marsa Alam, or for big-teethy life then Little Brother has it hands down.
Photography is my real passion underwater and I often share my images on Facebook and throughout the website.
I was born in Cairo where I studied for Accountancy and since 2004 I have worked at Emperor Divers firstly based in Hurghada and then moving to Sharm. Having joined the Accounts Department, I progressed to Chief Accountant where I am responsible for a team looking after Emperor Divers' finances for both the Red Sea and Maldives. I live in Hurghada and have been here for a number of years now where I am based alongside the rest of the Head Office team.
Time out is spent with my wife and two young children, playing squash, a little bit of diving and travelling together to enjoy holidays. One of my best moments was our amazing honeymoon in Thailand.
I started diving in 2006 while travelling around Thailand and Australia. Having had a long fascination with sharks, when the chance came to learn to dive while travelling I snapped it up in the hope that one day I could get to see my favourite underwater creature in real life. That chance came sooner than expected as, by dive number seven on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, I saw my first one; a small black tip reef shark.
In 2008 I came to the Red Sea for the first time and have visited here regularly a few times a year since then. This is where I met my partner who also works in diving so I ended up moving here on New Year's Eve 2010. I did my Divemaster course during 2011, started working for Emperor Divers in Hurghada in 2013 and since then I've also covered the Emperor centre in El Gouna before joining Fleet in 2014, which is where I've been ever since. My role is Operations and Guest Relations Coordinator, where I prepare all the paperwork for the safari boats, organise guest transfers, meet them at the airport and arrange anything else the guests, boats or guides need and try and keep everyone happy. We like happy people! I also work in the Reservations team dealing with enquiries from direct guests and tour operators.
I also love supporting various animal charities and do what I can often combining it with a personal challenge. I've done everything from a 40 mile walk in one day in the Lake District (in the rain and I did this on two occasions!) to an extreme snorkelling challenge in the Red Sea from North Fanadir to land, about 7km.
Last year, while taking a holiday on Emperor Elite, I was able to tick off another item on my bucket list, diving with a tiger shark. Life is good!
